Women’s Conference

One Saturday, our stake hosted a Women’s Conference with the theme: The Parable of the Ten Virgins and Jesus Christ.
The Conference included the following:
- heartwarming stories
- a professional artist spoke and shared her artwork
- an abundance of sacred art, brought by members of the church
- professional musicians flew in from out of state to perform beautiful songs about Christ
- the Stake RS President said in her opening comments that this was more about heart learning than anything else
A Mediterranean luncheon was served, with decorations that included olive tree branches, palm fronds, lanterns, and pictures of Christ. We had a packed house. Women came. Women connected with each other in meaningful ways. Women’s hearts were changed. It was so beautiful. It was so WEH.

Choose To Rest: 5 Rigorous Forms of Rest (+ Hygge Hobbies)

Amidst the noise and hustle and bustle of daily duties–cooking, laundry, chauffeur–a fleeting thought enters my mind: choose to rest. The thought envelops me as I drift slowly to my bedroom, closing the door behind me. Sadly, it’s taken me six weeks to find the time to sit in my new bedroom chair. Today, I determined, was to be that day.
Slowly, like a crisp fall leaf floating from tree to ground, I settle, nice and cozy, into the amaranthine-colored leather chair. With feet propped up and windows open, I take a moment to relish the feel of the soft breeze on my skin, the sound of rain filtering through the curtains. Finally, I open the pages of a magazine that has, for months, been patiently waiting on my nightstand.
Within the pages of that magazine was an article on rigorous rest. Learn more about rigorous rest and find a list of hygge hobbies for women that can inspire activity ideas in coming months.

130+ Under-Rated Skills Everyone Should Know

Under-rated skills everyone should know ought to be on your To-Learn List. Here are three reasons why:
Three Reason to Learn New Skills
Learning new skills, even old and out-dated ones, can be fun. If nothing else, it makes for great conversation. After learning how to proficiently use a typewriter, one woman took the typewriter to a park where adults and children alike gawked at the curious spectacle. The woman earned a little money here and there by typing up short creative poems for her “customers” (adults and children walking through the park) who were invited to “just pay what you can”. What a novel idea! (And what fun it would be to develop the skill of poetry-writing!)
Some skills are simply handy to have, like knowing how to properly bag groceries. Other skills contribute to the overall health of relationships, like making eye contact during a conversation and giving a pleasant handshake.
Many useful skills from generations past have become less familiar due to an advance in technology. However, while washing machines, for instance, prevent one from having to wash all clothing by hand, it is still helpful to know how to hand wash delicates and remove stubborn stains.
