Godly Men and Women: Where Are You?
Where are the godly men and women in our society? What is needed for our society to have a restoration of godly men and women?

Men, Where Are You?
In a recent post on social media calling men to rise up and be the men God desires them to be, the most striking responses to the post were those made by men, comments such as:
- Time to man up
- Joining you in prayer
- A spiritual revival is due
- Men need to step up in faith
- You’ve hit the nail on the head
- Thank you for this encouraging post
- Guys need to reach out to our lost men
- Thank you for having the boldness to say it
- It’s a call to courage and accountability, and it’s time we heed it
- Men are spiritual leaders of the home, and should be raised as such
Men who are joining the cause of Christ, men who put God, marriage, and family (in that order) first in their lives, seem to be increasing in number.
I find this so encouraging.
Can you envision our world with more men like Captain Moroni?
I can.
Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men. Behold, he was a man like unto Ammon, the son of Mosiah, yea, and even the other sons of Mosiah, yea, and also Alma and his sons, for they were all men of God. Now behold, Helaman and his brethren were no less serviceable unto the people than was Moroni.
alma 48:17-19
Many men were like unto Captain Moroni, and many men still can be.
Men, imagine your name being added to this list of righteous men.
Begin today to make it happen.
Then find a young man to mentor.
Some time ago, a righteous man invited my son to become a leader of tomorrow. Since that day, I’ve witnessed my son devote more time and energy towards God, and to fulfilling his God-given roles in life–the fruits of which are already visible.

Women, Where Are You?
God created men and women, each with their own unique roles.
Women, the men in our world need our support and encouragement, our honor, respect, and love.
Women who put God first, honor their husband, and delight in nurturing their children, where are you?
Have we as women lost sight of our uniquely feminine roles?
In what ways can we bring our actions back into alignment with our divine nature as women of God?
Are we willing to set aside the things of this world to become helpmeets and nurturers?
Some weeks ago, I returned home after a long day of work to a house that was made ready for my return by my daughters–my favorite candle had been lit, soft music was playing in the background, the house was in order, and dinner was cooking on the stove. I was so happy to be home!
While this perfect scenario is not always the scenario in families with young ones, a wife and mother can do her best to make home a piece of heaven on earth, a retreat from the storms of life. My daughters know this, and look forward to creating this type of nurturing environment in their future homes and families.

The Chicken or the Egg?
The question many have asked is, Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?
Do men need to be the first to change, or do women?
With fingers pointing in all directions–men’s fingers pointing at women, women’s fingers pointing at men–I asked my daughter her opinion on the matter.
Her answer?
We must stop waiting for others to change and focus on changing ourselves.
A man responding to Martyn Iles’ bold invitation for righteous men and women to step up agreed with my daughter’s response. He said simply,
“Amen. And let it begin with me.”

Quotes for Godly Men
“God wants us to be stronger than we are—more fixed in our purpose, more certain of our commitments, eventually needing less coddling from Him, showing more willingness to shoulder some of the burden of His heavy load. In short, He wants us to be more like He is and, if you haven’t noticed, some of us are not like that yet.”
Jeffrey R. Holland, “Created for Greater Things”
“You cannot make men good by law.”
C.S. Lewis
“This is a life-and-death contest we are in, young men, so I am going to get in your face a little, nose to nose, with just enough fire in my voice to singe your eyebrows a little—the way coaches do when the game is close and victory means everything. And with the game on the line, what this coach is telling you is that to play in this match, some of you have to be more morally clean than you now are.
In this battle between good and evil, you cannot play for the adversary whenever temptation comes along and then expect to suit up… as if nothing has happened. That, my young friends, you cannot do. God will not be mocked. . . . So we need young men already on the team to stay on it and stop dribbling out of bounds just when we need you to get in the game and play your hearts out!”
Jeffrey R. Holland, “We Are All Enlisted”
“The most critical need of the church at this moment is men, bold men, free men. The church must seek, in prayer and much humility, the coming again of men made of the stuff of which prophets and martyrs are made.”

The Good that Men Can Do by D. Todd Christofferson
“A godly man often grows best when his worldly circumstances decay. He who follows Christ for his bag is a Judas; they who follow for loaves and fishes are children of the devil; but they who attend Him out of love to Himself are His own beloved ones. Lord, let me find my life in Thee, and not in the mire of this world’s favour or gain.”
Charles Spurgeon
Quotes for Godly Women
“A woman’s heart should be so close to God that a man should have to chase Him to find her.”
C.S. Lewis
“The modern challenge to motherhood is the eternal challenge–that of being a godly woman. The very phrase sounds strange in our ears. We never hear it now. We hear about every other type of women: beautiful women, smart women, sophisticated women, career women, talented women, divorced women. But so seldom to we hear of a godly woman–or of a godly man either, for that matter. I believe women come nearer to fulfilling their God-given function in the home than anywhere else.”
Peter Marshall
“The world’s greatest champion of woman and womanhood is Jesus the Christ.”
James E. Talmage, “Jesus the Christ”
“Women bring with them into the world a certain virtue, a divine gift that makes them adept at instilling such qualities as faith, courage, empathy, and refinement in relationships and in cultures.”
