Bold and Creative, Quiet and Courageous: Are You Ready?

It’s time to be bold and creative, quiet and courageous by sharing our testimony of Jesus Christ with the world. It’s time to use our gifts and talents to bless the lives of others.

Testimony

As Christians, perhaps there is power in focusing on one principle for which we have a strong testimony. Then we can take action, sharing our testimony about what we know to be true, rather than sitting around worrying that our testimony about everything Gospel-related isn’t as strong as it could be. For some, their strong testimony might be about personal prayer. To take action, this person might share their testimony of prayer at church or on social media. For others, their strong testimony might be about the scripture, the Law of the Fast, or the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

What part of your testimony is the strongest?

In what ways might you take bold and creative or quiet and courageous action this week to share that part of your testimony with others?

Talents

In addition to focusing on a strong part of our testimony, we each have personal strengths, spiritual gifts, and talents at our disposal, given to us as a means to minister to those around us.

If you could select your greatest strength, spiritual gift, or talent, what would it be?

Are you using it on a regular basis, in bold and creative or quiet and courageous ways, to bless the lives of others?

Too often, I have succumbed to the thought that using my strengths in a public way might make me look prideful⎯lacking in humility. While that can be true, I’ve learned that, not only is it possible to enthusiastically go about doing good by utilizing the strengths, spiritual gifts, and talents, while at the same time remaining humble, but that doing so is, in fact, vital to the building of the Kingdom of God⎯it is vital to building Zion in preparation for the Savior’s second coming.

Masterpiece

What is your greatest strength? Are you using it in bold and creative or quiet and courageous ways to build the Kingdom of God?

There is, oh, so much to be done when it comes to building Zion, and so many bold and creative and quiet and courageous ways to go about doing so. What a blessing it is to be involved in this great work of preparing the earth for the second coming of the Savior!

What part is each of us playing in this great work?

How do we know if what we are doing is enough?

How do we avoid feeling inadequate, weary in well-doing, over-anxious, and discontent?

Elder Maxwell addresses these questions and more in this marvelous 11-minute talk. The talk is a masterpiece, every sentence a gem.

Zion can’t be built in isolation; as disciples of Jesus Christ, we need each other.

Youth

So many of our youth, though raised in a depraved society, are choosing to become disciples of Christ. It’s an amazing thing to witness! The youth have learned for themselves that discipleship requires that they turn outward instead of on themselves.

Muskox

A friend recently taught me about muskox circles. When danger threatens, the muskoxen will form a tight circle, all facing outward. Their young remain in the center of the circle, protected from outside threats. My friend then compared the muskox circle to a temple baptismal font that has twelve oxen surrounding the basin, with each ox facing outward. The youth enter the baptismal font, located in the center of the oxen, to do baptisms for others. Similar to a muskox circle, our prophet has promised protection from worldy influences to those who do baptisms and other temple work for others. Turning outward offers protection.

Sharing testimonies and talents are two ways our youth turn their focus outward to bless the lives of others, thereby increasing their spiritual protection.

In what specific ways can you and I join the youth in being be bold and creative, quiet and courageous?
